Yes! The idea of a dry hire is that you can bring your own engineer or producer and operate the studio yourselves. We can also provide an engineer or assistant if you like.

We do! Our in-house engineers are Jono Steer, Julia Wallace and Connor Black-Harry. Our engineers are openminded people with calm personalities, they are here to help you get the best recordings and to facilitate your vision.

We offer a service where you can book the studio with an Assistant or an Engineer.

We recommend you book an Assistant if you have never used the space before and you feel you’d benefit from some support in getting to know the space and how to best operate it.

We recommend you book an Engineer if you’d like an experienced Recording Engineer to record and capture your session.

The Assistant will greet you at the studio, be available to you for 1-2 hours to help you get setup and be on call for you throughout the session if you have any questions. They will also meet you at the end of the session.

An Engineer will be with you throughout your whole session. They are there to operate the studio and recording/capture your music for you. The Engineer will provide you with the recordings upon conclusion of your booking.

Yes, by clicking on the BOOK NOW button, you will have access to the studio calendar to book in your sessions. You can either book ‘one offs’, day pass packages or consecutive days.

Absolutely! You can book an assistant or engineer for any full day hires. You can view their rates and availability by clicking the BOOK NOW button.

The studio is mainly used for writing and recording music. We are open to hearing about your project and discussing if it’s a suitable space to host you!

Yes! You don’t have to record. You can book a half day or a full day for writing sessions.

HALF DAYS
Half days are scheduled in morning slots or afternoon slots.

Afternoon: 2PM - 6PM

FULL DAYS
Full days are scheduled from 10AM - 6PM.

Generally recordings of ensembles of up to 8 musicians are comfortable. We have had as many as a choir of 15 people in one session. As all the spaces/rooms are isolated it is possible to set up a session with 5 acoustically isolated spaces with direct line of sight between most of them.

If you book a dry hire, you will generally plan the recording sessions yourself with your team. If you decide to book one of our in-house engineers, we will work together with you to plan out your recording. We are always happy to help with planning your sessions.

The studio is all on the ground floor. There is one step up into the front entrance and rear entrance. Internally there is one step up into the recording areas. The internal doors are all 900mm wide allowing easy access for most equipment. The bathroom facilities are not wheelchair accessible. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please get in touch and we will do our best to assist.

We love the idea of gifting someone studio time. Every gift package comes with an engineer to record the music.

1. Head over to the BOOK NOW page and click on ‘Gift Passes’.

2. Choose if you’d like to gift a 1 day pass, a 2 day pass or a 3 day pass.

3. Once booked, you can share the ‘Redemption Code’ with the recipient.

4. Direct the recipient to www.darestudios.co where they can make their booking.

5. The gift recipient can then use the redemption code when booking studio time by clicking ‘Apply Package Code’ upon checking out.

This way, the gift recipient can choose the dates that suit them!

Gift passes are valid for one year. They can be redeemed within 12 months from the date of purchasing them.

There is no accommodation at the studio. We recommend booking an Airbnb locally. Please head to the CONTACT page to discuss.

We don’t provide catering, however we can organise catering at an additional cost. Please let us know in your notes when booking.

We will have the pianos tuned for your session at no extra cost.

Yes. If you are booking a session with one of our engineers, we ask that you please bring an empty hard drive to the session so you can leave with the session files. We recommend you also backup this hard drive after your session.

We will always try our best to accommodate you if you need to reschedule.

The studio is booked well in advance, so if you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask that you let us know as soon as possible so we can free up the sessions.

The studio is paid for upfront when booking. If we are unable to facilitate your booking request, you will be refunded in full.

If you cancel your booking more than 14 days ahead of your booking, you will receive a 100% refund. If you cancel more than 48 hours before your booking (within 14 days of the booking), you will be refunded 50% of your booking fee.

Cancellations made 48 hours or less before a booking commences will not be refunded.

If Dare Studios needs to cancel your session for unforeseen circumstances, you will be refunded in full.

Yes! Of course. We’d love you to.

Yes! We ask that you let us know if you plan to film in the space. Filming snippets for social media is pre-approved. We can also help organise to film a project for you through our creative collaborators. Please CONTACT US and let us know what you have in mind.
